About Llys-y-frân

Llys-y-frân is set in a beautiful location, in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains.

Free to enter and open all year round there’s plenty to do for all ages and abilities. A great place to spend the day exploring on foot or on two wheels.

The 350 acres (142ha) of woodland, grassland and lake are perfect for walking, cycling and fishing – and a whole range of activities on land and water.

Whatever adventure you choose, enjoy taking deep breaths of fresh Pembrokeshire air; where social distancing comes naturally.

About Llys-y-frân: Our Story

The reservoir was first opened in 1972 by HRH Princess Margaret. We supply most of the water used by homes and industry in south Pembrokeshire. The dam is a feat of engineering, but it has also preserved this landscape as a haven for nature and wildlife.

Welsh Water is a not-for-profit water company. We don’t have shareholders, which means that we put every single penny we make straight back into keeping bills down and looking after your water and beautiful environment – now, and for years to come. We think it’s a much better way of doing things.

A £4 million major investment to the visitor centre and recreational facilities was backed with £1.7 million of European Regional Development Funds through the Welsh Government.

The Welsh Government’s Tourism Attractor Destination programme, led by Visit Wales, aims to create 11 must see destinations across Wales.
